The following story is from the Feb 20, 2025 NJ.com. Michael Ruvo admitted he stole $2800. Yet, that's not where the thievery ends. He was working for 2 towns in Ocean County simultaneously (Beachwood and Pt. Pleasant and then Beachwood and Lavallette). He used his position in Beachwood to scam a property owner out of $120,000+ and was running another business at the same time he was working for the towns. Rosalee Keech for NJ Assembly comments: Instead of working to provide services to all residents, our taxpayer dollars are being used for double dipping and scamming the public. Using our taxpayer dollars wisely means providing law enforcement with the tools and the mandate to uncover corruption and end impunity!
Ex-code enforcement official admits stealing from N.J. town
“…Investigators also alleged that he negotiated the sale price down to $80,000 despite the property being valued at more than $200,000. In June 2022, Ruvo issued a code enforcement violation to a property owner on Tiller Avenue. He then instructed her to contact Express Cleanout, claiming the company could do the job faster and for a lower price than her existing estimate. The investigation revealed that Ruvo owned Express Cleanout, a fact he concealed from the woman. Despite failing to complete the job, Ruvo declared the property compliant. Ruvo was employed by Beachwood from September 2018 through March 2023. Investigators also learned Ruvo was also employed as a code enforcement officer for Point Pleasant Beach for a period in 2021 and for Lavallette for a period between 2022 and 2023, authorities said.”
