Tax and Government Reform Policy

Rosalee’s Tax and Government Reform policies focus on restoring trust by using taxpayers’ dollars wisely and enhancing transparency, accountability, and efficiency in New Jersey’s government. The plan represents a bold and comprehensive vision for fostering a strong and equitable economy in New Jersey. The plan promotes fiscal responsibility, economic growth, and fairness for residents and businesses alike.

Prioritizing transparency and accountability across all levels of government is paramount to restoring public trust. Accountability requires that the state’s financial budget, expenditures and programs’ goals and results be available to the public. Transparency occurs when the information is easily available to the public on a timely basis.

Using taxpayers’ dollars wisely:

  • Rosalee’s business experience includes project and executive management. Projects need to finish on time and within budgeted cost. Programs’ intended goals need to be articulated prior to budgeting expenditures and results measured. As a member of the Assembly, she will ask the tough questions of the Administration regarding results and variances.

  • When expenditures and results are not measured nor displayed, corruption can run rampant. No one is above the law! Rosalee will work across the aisle to bring honesty back into politics. And where it’s not, she will work to ensure that the Attorney General has the resources and political will to go after dishonest politicians.

Transparency and accountability:

  • As a former Board of Directors member of the League of Women Voters of the United States, Rosalee knows that having access to public records and on a timely basis are key components to freedom of the press and government transparency, which are needed for democracy to flourish. Speaking with the LD9 community about government transparency, it is evident that OPRA was very necessary to hold our governments accountable. The public outcry over the changes that have made it nearly impossible for residents and the press to acquire vital information is a great concern to the community. Rosalee Keech is in support of restoring OPRA.

  • It’s important that all types of experts and those impacted be represented at the table prior to drafting legislation. Rosalee believes that developing consensus amongst the experts and those impacted should inform the legislation. Conducting public sessions after the development of the program is too late.

Efficiency:

  • As a member of the NJ Attorney General’s Human Trafficking Task Force, Rosalee has seen firsthand how different agencies can come together to deal with a difficult issue and avoid duplication of efforts. Rosalee supports working together and sharing knowledge.

  • Rosalee will encourage municipal or county shared services to reduce costs and improve efficiency.
